Camps & Enrichment
Algebra I Enrichment
Eighth grade boys enrolled in Algebra I are invited to join us for our annual Algebra I enrichment program. This virtual session is designed to firm up mathematical understanding; preparing students for Honors Algebra II as freshmen and laying a strong foundation for eventual success in IB Math or AP Calculus.
The program consists of two intensive 30-minute online sessions per quarter, combined with assessment and detailed feedback from Dean of Academics Mr. Dan Corcoran '07. In addition, students receive a series of video presentations with real-world examples and practice work.
The lessons review Algebra I concepts that should be mastered by that point of the year, according to Ohio Department of Education standards. Most students can expect to work on Algebra enrichment for a total of approximately 3–4 hours per quarter.

Spring Preview Day for Seventh Graders
Tuesday, May 14, 2024 and Thursday, May 16, 2024 | 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Boys in seventh grade are invited to participate in a day of special activities designed to give a taste of what St. Edward has to offer. Participants will see the campus, meet current students, and engage in project-based learning while interacting with faculty.
- Lunch will be provided.
- Students should wear casual clothing and athletic shoes.
Space is limited for this popular program.
Please note: This fun learning preview is different from our Edsman for a Day visits. When eighth graders shadow, they spend an entire school day attending real classes along with a current student.
Admission Practice Test for Seventh Graders — Pre-HSPT
Saturday, April 20, 2024 | 9 a.m.
Private schools all over the country use the High School Placement Test as part of their admission process for eighth-grade applicants. Taking a practice version of the HSPT can be very beneficial for seventh graders, as it helps them become familiar with the test’s format and the types of questions that are asked. This preparation can reduce test anxiety and improve performance on the real exam.
The Pre-HSPT is a standardized, multiple-choice exam that measures academic abilities in the following areas: verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics, and language.
- Testing lasts approximately 3 hours.
- Calculators are not permitted.
- Pencils are supplied.
- The Pre-HSPT fee is $20 and registration is required.
